Sony Handycam Articles I have bee affected by photography since I was a kid because my father is a photographer. I have seen the development of cameras in our studio, from the simple point-and-shoot cameras to lomography cameras with compact digital cameras and SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras, and more digitized.
My father recently bought a Nikon D80 in addition to his Nikon D70. A comparison of the two cameras, I must say, Nikon D80 clearly surpassed the other in terms of features and design. At a glance, Iwas immediately impressed with the 18-135mm kit lens. I am an objective person, and the transition from 18-70mm kit lens of the Nikon D70 to 18-135mm Lens Nikon D80 just blew me away. With the focal length of 18-135mm lens, it is already synonymous with the 27-202.5mm lens on a 35mm camera. Used in the Stone Age of cameras, to take two lenses to cover this kind of, but now the 18-135mm lens does it all. It is like a small lens with a really great superpower, it isawesome.
Among other things that I love is the weight. Actually it is even lighter than the Nikon D70, only with a weight of over 20 oz compared to the 21oz Nikon D70. It's hard enough for you have a firm grip on it without pain, however, the arms or holding too long hurt. A great kit lens and relatively low weight are just some of my favorite things that I love, the Nikon D80.
Now with even more technical stuff. Nikon D80 uses Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital HighCapacity (SDHC) cards, which marks a further step-up from the previous CompactFlash card, the Nikon D70 is used. The shutter speed is 30 to 1 / 4000 seconds, the ISO sensitivity from 100 to 1600 in increments of 1 / 3 EV, plus HI-0, 3, 0.7 and HI-HI-1. The image size is also larger compared to 3,872 x 2,592, that of the Nikon D70, which only 3008 x 2000th The viewfinder extends to 0.94 magnification, it's awesome!
Overall, the Nikon D80 is better in all aspects of the Nikon 70th Everything youwanted to improve the Nikon D70 is Nikon D80. It is lighter on weight, but definitely harder with functions. It is a killer lens kit, and awesome picture quality. It's definitely worth the bucks.

Good camera for low-light and artificial conditions

I purchaized FX1000 form Amazon two months ago to videotape theatrical performances at home. I have chosen it because of good low light specification (1.5Lux) and made the right choice. With correct manual settings (most important - maximum gain <15dB) it produces excellent picture for poorly lit scenes as well as for scenes under artificial (pure red, blue, green) lightling. Low-light noise is slightly worse than for VX2100 that is known champion for such conditions (1.0Lux). However, resolution is much better than for VX2100: I can hardly see pixelization or any artifacts on 6ft x 4ft screen (using Sony HD projector).
The only drawback is very small menu wheel that is difficult to use (much worse than in VX2100).
Otherwise, after 30h of videotaping in very demanding conditions it works wery well. Definitely this is not point-and-shoot camera. It has tons of knobs and switches (nicley described in the manual) and you have to invest some time and patience to get amazing results.
Although this is my first HD camera (I owned Sony VX2100 for 2.5 years) and I have nothing to compare it with, I give it 5 stars because I do not see any serious drawbacks. |

| I purchased this camera about two months ago to replace my Sony VX2000. I have shot two events so far with the FX1000 and I am very pleased with its performance. The camera has tons of manual settings ( still learning all those ) which most people will never use. I did purchase the Rode VideoMic to use with the camera because we all know how well on board mics work ( FYI, very good stereo shotgun mic ), I do wish the FX1000 had XLR inputs. I will be shooting a short film next month with the camera and then a feature film in a few months, I am looking forward to really testing this camera out. |

| It's a very good camcorder with some issues. With respect to video quality and low light conditions it outstanding although the camera mode selection and function button are poorly placed. I happened to know this prior to my purchase and with the price tag fitting my budget I didn't hesitate acquiring my camcorder. |
